Advanced Placement & Prep Classes
What are Advanced Placement (AP) Classes?
AP courses are rigorous, college-level classes in a variety of subjects that give students an opportunity to
gain the skills and experience colleges recognize and for which they grant credit it students pass the AP
What is a Pre-AP Class?
Pre-AP classes are a fairly new term for classes that are meant to prepare high school students for
AP classes (college-level classes taken in high school) as well as college classes themselves. Pre-AP
classes are typically taken by high school freshman, but some courses are also meant for sophomores.
However, any student who meets the requirements may take the class regardless of grade level.
What is a Pre-AP Prep class?
The Learnatory does not wait untl middle school to offer Pre-AP Prep classes for students in grades 6
through 8. They are intended to ensure middle school students build a solid foundation to prepare
to take Pre-AP classes by their freshman or sophomore year.
Students must meet certain math and reading test requirements to be accepted into the Pre-AP and
Pre-AP Prep classes.
Pre-AP Prep classes are designed by The Learnatory for the expressed purpose of giving students a
jump-start on the new Pre-AP requirements and preparation for high school AP classes.
Those students not qualifying for Pre-AP or Pre-AP Prep classes in math may take the Individualized
Instructional Math classes at The Learnatory. These small classes provide personalized support based
upon the Assessments and Math Diagnostics.

Registration for Advanced Placement Prep & Test Prep Classes begins in March, 2019 for the Summer and Fall, 2019 Sessions.
